You know by now that I have a particular fondness for shoes, and for comfortable heels first and foremost. The drama, we all know it, you want to look elegant, you slip on lovely heels, and very soon it’s the blister, bare feet under the table, the famous “thanks, goodbye”. Cosy Island sent me three new pairs, mules this time, and their slogan says it all, comfort without compromise. We’ll see together whether the promise holds, because here, no smoke and mirrors, you’re right inside my fitting room.

Before the first pair, a word about the brand. To pull off the comfortable-heel challenge, Cosy Island combines materials and processes designed for cushioning, and makes it a point of honour to use recycled materials. A small touching detail, each shoe arrives wrapped in a fabric bag, an attention you appreciate. And the moment you press the sole with a finger, you can sense the softness waiting for the foot.
The bow mules, the immediate favourite
We start with the black pair, open at the back, adorned with two little bows on the top of the foot.
The softness from the very first step
I can confirm it the moment I slip them on, I walk as if on a little cloud, the cushioning is noticeable at the heel and at the front, and the size fits perfectly. I went for black, easier to wear, but they come in other shades, including a lovely plum. With trousers that are both dressy and relaxed and a black bodysuit, the contrast works, and you could add a bolero on top. First approval without hesitation.
The buckle mules, the square heel that changes things
We move on to a second pair of mules, with an adjustable strap and that square heel I find so elegant.
A pointed toe, a different poise
The strap adjusts, the hold is spot on, and the pointed toe brings a touch of refinement. The size, here again, is perfect, neither too big nor too small. With trousers, we stay in relaxed chic, but it’s with a dress that these mules reveal their true nature, a different poise, a different evening out. You don’t go to work like this, and so much the better.
The triangle-heel pair, the most refined
We finish with the most elegant one, whose heel draws a pretty triangle, a distinctive mark of style.
Cushions as a bonus
On opening, a nice surprise, breathable cushions to slip in at the back of the heel if you feel any discomfort, an attention I appreciate enormously. The material gives away the recycled origin, the sole is ultra comfortable, and the pointed toe slims the foot nicely while holding it. With a red dress, the little Red Riding Hood effect is complete, and I’m won over.
Comfort is no longer a sacrifice
What delights me is being able to choose a shoe for its beauty and keep it for its comfort, without having to trade off any more.
