The first strawberries of the year, I had missed them, and it’s on this little dose of freshness that I welcome you today. I received three new pairs from Vivaia, the brand that won me over with its slightly crazy bet, making shoes from recycled plastic water bottles, without giving an inch on comfort. I had already adopted their zebra ankle boots that I wear almost every day, and now, time for more spring-like models. Let’s try them on together, with a few outfits brought out for the occasion.
Vivaia, the comfort that reconciles you with the planet
A word about the brand, because it all starts there. Vivaia designs shoes from recycled materials, with technical soles meant to hug the foot, and that’s exactly what touched me, a lighter impact on the environment without sacrificing elegance or comfort. Since I discovered them, I have literally rediscovered the pleasure of walking.
The Addison heels, soft elegance
We start with the Addison, elegant and chic heels, with an adjustable strap and a little embroidered V Vivaia on the side.
A sole that changes everything
Their distinctive feature is this padded and sturdy sole, which softens the arch and offers comfort incomparable with my other heels, often devoid of any protection inside. The V opening brings a real touch of elegance. I saved them for last, with a burgundy Naf Naf dress, and the sand colour matched far better than I imagined. These heels, I mostly see them with a dress, where their elongated line works wonders.
The Cristina sneakerinas, my dancer’s crush
On to my real crush, the Cristina, satin lace-up sneakers, which awaken my years of classical dance at the conservatory.
The satin and the double lace
The sole is very thin but the inside stays ultra padded, and you can lace them a thousand ways thanks to a double lace, one thick, the other satin. You can even tie them ballet-style, a sweet little bow. This softness on the foot, this satin on the skin, is a rare delight, and good news, they go in the machine. With a Zara skirt or a little thrifted dress, they bring a touch that’s girly and elegant at the same time.
The V-Tune slip-ons, the soft casual
We finish with the V-Tune, slip-on sneakers, more casual, which I got in white, my favourite colour for spring.
More comfortable than my brand-name sneakers
The sole is flat but, inside, it’s still the feeling of a cloud, and honestly, you walk far more comfortably in these than in big-brand sneakers in the same style. Easy to slip on, perfect for a stroll or a laid-back day, they also come in tea green and powder pink. With shorts and a little tank top, it’s the ideal spring look.
Three pairs, comfort rediscovered
What delights me is being able at last to choose a shoe for its style without dreading the end of the day, and to do so while supporting an approach that makes sense.
